Mrs. Carrie Lou Martin Bennett, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at her residence in Lincolnton, Georgia, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on May 12, 1938, in Appling, Georgia, she was the sixth of twelve children born to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. (Nina Mae Hunter) Martin.
Carrie's life was a mosaic of love, laughter, and heartfelt connections. She dedicated many years of her career to the Murray Biscuit Company in Augusta, Georgia, a job she passionately cherished until health problems led to her early retirement. Even after stepping away from her professional duties, her spirit remained vibrant as she embraced a new calling - that of a caretaker, always putting the needs of others before her own.
The memories woven in the fabric of her life are distinguishable and deeply felt, from her knack for cooking her famous golden biscuits to the joy brought forth on Mother's Day weekends, which stood as the highlight of her year. An ardent lover of dance, conversation, and family, Carrie had a unique way of making everyone feel adored and welcomed. She never met a stranger; instead, she embraced everyone with open arms, offering a listening ear and discerning heart, all while keeping their secrets safe. She exuded a warmth that brought comfort to many, never judging but rather celebrating the uniqueness of every soul she encountered.
Carrie was educated in the Lincoln County School system, instilling in her children the values she held dear, grounded in faith and love. She proudly accepted Christ as her personal savior and united with Lower Tabernacle Baptist Church at an early age, where she remained an active member of her community.
She leaves behind her devoted children, Thomas Curtis Bennett, Sherry Dean Bennett, and Nelson Charles(Tammy) Bennett, all of Lincolnton, Georgia, Lestine (Lee G.) Deloatch of Grovetown, GA and Vestine (Larry) Dunn of Augusta, GA; her caring sisters, Loutrica (LM) Searles and Lillie Mae West both of Lincolnton, GA additionally, her loving in-laws, Roy P. Bennett, Willie Beatrice Bennett, Eveck Leverett, and Mamie R. Bennett, stand as testament to her nurturing spirit. A great-grandson raised in her home, Ra'zelle Bennett, along with twelve grandchildren, Rashawn, Rashingue, Curtis Jr., Kristen, Katrina, Sabrina, Keandre, Bianca, Adrienne, Justine, Tavius, and Jessica, thirty great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, will carry her legacy forward amid a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who have been touched by her life.
Carrie is now reunited in peace with those who preceded her in death, including her husband, Thomas Green Bennett, and her beloved siblings: Ben Martin, John E. Martin, Henry W. Martin, TB Martin, Mary Frances Lane, Josie Lee Dye, Nadine Arnett, Alma Lockhart, and Mamie Love Dye.
Carrie Lou Bennett's legacy of love and warmth will forever echo in the lives she so deeply enriched. She will be missed yet held dear in the hearts of all who knew her, a beacon of light who will continue to guide her family from above.
