Carrie Booker Elam was born on December 20, 1959, in Lincoln County, Georgia, to the late Mr. Elbert Booker, Sr. and the late Mrs. Maude Lou Turner Booker. Known affectionately as “Pat” to those who loved her, Carrie’s life was a carefully crafted tapestry—each moment stitched together with faith, creativity, and love. On Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2026, at Doctors Hospital of Augusta, she gently laid down her needle, answered the Lord’s call, and transitioned from this earthly home to eternal rest.
From an early age, Carrie anchored her life in faith, accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and uniting with Mulberry CME Church. She was educated in the Lincoln County School System and proudly graduated with the Lincoln County High School Class of 1977, beginning a journey marked by resilience, devotion, and quiet strength.
Carrie first shared her heart with her high school sweetheart, Wayne Elam, who preceded her in death. As life continued to unfold, God stitched new joy into her story through her life partner and special friend, Frank Jones, with whom she shared a meaningful and loving bond until her passing.
Pat had a gifted hand and a creative spirit. She loved cooking and baking, but it was through crocheting that her heart truly spoke. With patience and purpose, she turned simple strands of yarn into beautiful, useful creations—each loop formed with care, each pattern crafted with intention. Her crochet work reflected who she was: thoughtful, detailed, and filled with love. Many were blessed by her talent as she lovingly shared and sold her handcrafted pieces, leaving behind warmth that could be felt long after the last stitch was made.
Carrie’s life, much like her crochet work, was built one stitch at a time—family, faith, friendship, and service woven together into a lasting legacy.
She leaves to cherish her beautifully woven memories a loving and devoted brother, Bobby Lee (Selena) Booker of Athens, Georgia; and four additional brothers, Charles Booker of Steubenville, Ohio; Elbert (Akeiko) Booker, Jr. of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; Garnell Booker and Michael Booker, both of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one sister, Evelyn Booker of Fayetteville, North Carolina; four devoted and special nieces, Latisha Norman, Nicole Norman, Charese Williams, and Tiffany Williams; two devoted nephews, Mark Williams, Jr. and Jonathan Williams; a special aunt, Jerry Dorsey of Harlem, Georgia, along with three other aunts and one uncle; her special friend and life partner, Frank Jones of Lincolnton, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will continue to feel the warmth of her love.
Though Carrie has finished her earthly pattern, the blanket of love she crocheted through her life will forever cover the hearts of those she leaves behind.
