Michael Edwin Willis was born on November 15, 1967, in Augusta, Georgia, to the union of Clair Parks Willis and the late Calvin Edwin Willis. From an early age, Michael accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a faithful member of Journey Sherwood Church in Augusta, Georgia.
Michael was a dedicated and hardworking man who devoted many years of service to his community through his employment. He worked faithfully with Food Lion for 25 years, served in Food Service at the VA Hospital, and worked as a Material Handler for more than 36 years. In addition, Michael proudly served as a referee for CSRA Championship Wrestling for over 30 years, a role that reflected his deep love and passion for wrestling.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved wrestling, going to the movies, volunteering at the local food pantry, and celebrating Halloween. Halloween held a special place in his heart, as he delighted in hosting annual Halloween parties for the children in his neighborhood, creating memories filled with laughter, fun, and a sense of community spirit.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his devoted wife, Shannon Willis, of the home; three godchildren, Amber Ellison, Rebecca Baker, and Ashley Ellison; his beloved mother, Clair Parks Willis; one sister, Patrice (Henry) Williams; a niece, Emily Williams (Cole Quarles); a nephew, Matthew Williams (Casey); great-niece and great-nephew, Brantley and Brynlee Quarles; one aunt, Donna Smith; one uncle, Bobby (Myrtle) Parks; three sisters-in-law, Winsone Chang, Doris Searles, and Sandra Collins; four brothers-in-law, Roy (Heather) Searles, Michael Myles, Sr., Mark Terry, and Toney Smiley; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Michael will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, servant’s heart, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
